Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

That's why when my car is in the garage, the hood is always up and one of these is sitting on the manifold.

http://www.victorpest.com/store/mouse-control/m792

And this one is sitting on the center console with the rear seats down and the windows up.

http://www.victorpest.com/store/mous...rol/bm793promo

To a mouse this soulnds like a mixture of a police siren, a 747 at full throttle and a jackhammer.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Installed the BBS aluminum center caps that came in from Germany yesterday. CNC aluminum using authorized BBS dimensions.

Not quite as tall, but definitely a better, more original look. The engineering of these caps is exquisite!

BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik AG was founded in 1970 in Schiltach, Germany by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand as a manufacturing plant for plastic auto body parts. The initials BBS are based on the last names of the two founders and the city in which the company was founded (Baumgartner, Brand, Schiltach) Their RS diamond mesh wheels were their first design and are the most replicated wheels in the world.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Replaced the antenna mast.

It was a breeze using the pdf guide in the How-To section :-).

Even the reception is quite a bit better now.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Prepped an STI steering wheel to replace the oem SVX one. Modded the wiring to allow use of the "tap on" cruise switch and covered the "STI" with a printout of the alternate SVX hood emblem. See the two photos. Final size of emblem is abt. 1.7" in diameter. It prints out correctly with Photo Shop Elements. It was printed on glossy photo paper, coated with 3 coats of clear coat, and attached with thin carpet tape.

Well, if you're going that far astray I changed the oil in my other flat six, washed polished and waxed it, changed the plugs then disassembled, cleaned and reassembled all six carburettors. Oh, and changed the air filter.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

SVX_MY_BABY, the way the sun is hitting your glasses you reminded me of the governor from The Walking Dead

I hit a lot of snags with this weekend project. Installed all components of an AVIC N2 only to find that the LCD won't open up in an SVX I ended up using this temporarily. I still had to mount it way back because the door won't close due to the knob

In the end I'll be going back to stock with a modded CD plug for iPhone input, I'm not too keen on the contrast a newer deck brings.

If anyone has an AVIC in their SVX please let me know how you got it to work.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

The svx finally got some much needed TLC. Over the past week I have spent more time with the car than my GF. Anyway, on to it! First, I replaced the door speakers and installed tweeters using a Component Kicker system.Crossover & Woofer Then installed the orignial radio harness from this guy. Soldering all 20 wires back to their original position was a PITA, but changing units in the future will be a lot easier now!
I also installed JDM clear turn signals and switched out the PCV, just thinking about it makes me
On to easier mods, thanks to Nate, I was able to get a hold of the no longer produced ECUtune 4.44 TCU. I paired it with the QC kit and Power Mode Mod. When I drive my car I can't help but all the time I wonder why...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally have made progress on installing the 2005 Impreza front seats. Drivers side installed and all new mounting points working. SVX 16.5" rail to rail center. 2005 Impreza closer to 17.5" (at least the drivers seat). (wider seat for 10 years on wider derrieres?). Could have sworn we measured it at 16.5" at the recycle yard but we might has measured on the passenger side. Live and learn. Now gotta pull it out AGAIN, remove the rails, and new mounting feet, mask them up and paint them next good painting day. I like VHT Roll Bar epoxy for this type of thing. Photo of installed seat attached. Not plug and pray and way more work than expected. Might be easy if you are an auto shop or a machine shop. Not so for us.

While waiting on the painting we will move on tho the STI steering wheel

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Took my driver's side door garnish off to figure out why it isn't staying in place at the bottom. Door is solid, but the panel has a definite curve to it when off. It flares at both ends.

Any Ideas on how to correct this? I was wondering is some 2 sided tape vertically near the bottom might work to hold it snug. Am going to replace the retainer bar thing at the top that bolts & snaps onto the door.

Is this black stuff supposed to be here? Or is it leftover from a previous paint job hack?

Also discovered my door speaker had disintegrated. I was hoping it was just a loose wire. Can't seem to get Fosgate speakers around here. Suggestions on good modestly priced ones that are a close fit would be welcome. Did I see a reference to a universal speaker bezel somewhere?
