Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Since it seems to be difficult to find a donor for the rear 1/4 panel I thought I'd try to make a repair section.

I think I will use the trial piece..... I made cardboard templates for all the body curves, then a wooden template, curved in all three dimensions and carefully formed the section.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Just tore apart a crashed Legacy wagon. Got manual transmission, rear end, clutch hydraulics, pedal box, shifter, and driveshaft for $200.
And it only took me 3 hours by myself

This would be fun to follow in it's own thread.

Ok, thanks. It won't happen until the summer is here.

I just made a trial section to see "if I still could do it". It's been 25 years

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Washed it, photographed it, pinched some bits off it and have listed it for sale on our equivalent of eBay.

That's my spare car being sold.
Daily driver (172) got a wash and parked back in the garaged.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I'm always a little wary of stuff like that. I'm sure big brother can access it just as easy. And we sure don't need them in our business any more than they already are.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I used to have the port forwarded in my router so I could access it remotely. Actually, you can search for unsecured IP cameras. Now, I just have it set up to send emails when motion is detected. Although since it's going to a gmail account I'm sure can access all the pictures. Regardless, it's external and pointing out of my living room through a window. :-)

Talking Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finished replacing all of the hoses and one of the solonoids under the intake manifold today and fired it up for the first time in about a month. Needed to clear my check engine light to pass smog and was getting a code for 2 of the solonoids under the intake. Was hoping it was just old hoses and then discovered a broken connecter on the duty solonoid on the drivers side. Replaced it and now the codes are gone. Yay!

Was also thinking about replacing my spark plugs and went to pull out the access plugs and discovered this... blocked.jpg

That is the sheet metal of the engine bay instead of a nice access to my rear plug. I guess that will have to wait until another day.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Replaced the knock sensor. Drove her for the first time since I drove her out of 7 year storage (despite failed brakes).

Discovered brakes failed where the gas lines failed (over gas tank).

Woe is me.
