Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

The green car with the OEM BBS is a very tough act to follow...

But here's where I'm at with my toy.

This was taken after my maiden five-speed voyage.

Please forgive the unfinished garage walls. Just bought the house, built the garage, and it's been my "other" project for the past year.

You'll notice some SVX goodies that I'll be wiping the dust from in the next few months (hopefully).

The wheels are Work VSXX. In the BBS boxes are a set of OEM BBS from an 06 STI. Deltaspeed side skirts are hanging on the wall. And that's an Eastwood fender roller. Might come in handy fitting the Works.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Just attempted to get my speedometer and wipers working again.

I had forgotten to plug in the 3 pin speed sensor by the dipstick. Plugged it in, didn't work. Swapped in my old speed sensor from the automatic, which worked fine when the car was automatic. Still doesn't work.

Any advice on the next step? I read somewhere that the wipers and speed sensor were related in some way?

Mounted the freshly painted spoiler and started fitting the "36$ external ignition coils" .

Put a small screwdriver in the hole where the speed sensor goes and put the car on jack stands while in drive. Then have someone see if the screwdriver is turning, this will the if your gear is still intact.

Continuing to strip my SVX to restore it... just got the entire sunroof assembly out. Arrrrggghh. What a mission.

Hope I remember how all this goes back together.

Smile Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Purchased a full set or Rotors - drilled/slotted/gold finish, & red covered brake lines, red top & bottom radiator hoses - all from Dayle at Motorsport Warehouse in USA - very cheap compared to the price here in New Zealand (see down-under for prices etc).

Also purchased RedStuff brakes from local agent here in NZ.

The USA stuff arives in approx 2 weeks.....no more steering wheel wobble under braking....

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Yesterday I sorted out the speedo/wiper situation.

I had drawn a map of the fuse location as my cover was missing. To make a long story short, after about five hours of swapping speed sensors and tracing wires, I realized that the map of fuses I had drawn was upside down.

Re-installed the center console minus the shifter piece. I still need to install a shift boot.

Gave the car a quick wash to clean off the shop dust.

And right now, it's at the local exhaust shop getting a Magnaflow convertor attached to the Stebro cat-back.

Looks like they didn't fix the imperfections, still they look good over all.

Yes, I was slightly disappointed at how much damage came through, but with the pealing original coating, I had not noticed, and I took them to a shop that only does the sandblasting, and powder-coating, not aluminum repair. But for the price I am happy with the overall result.
