Ok, the prototype cams have been ground now. I think I already announced that the masters were machined--if I didn't, obviously, the masters have been machined--then used to grind the prototype cams.

The intake valves will be just over 92mm long.
The exhaust valves will be just over 92.6mm long.

With that info now set I can finish arranging the order for valves next week and we'll have our price hammered down and be ready to do this.

In case anyone didn't figure/assume it already the graphs of lift vs time/crank rotation I was posting to show Bill how to design cams are plots of our cam lobes. That's the exhaust and intake layed out by crank rotation throughout a complete 4 stroke cycle. For those not accustomed to looking at such things...the piston reaches tdc (top dead center) or bdc (bottom dead center) every 180 degrees..ie one stroke = 180 degrees, 4 strokes = 720...the 360 in the middle of the plot is tdc at the end of the exhaust stroke and begining of the intake stroke.

My CAMs were sent out 4th class postal on Friday. So you should have them sometime between April and December.

I have none to send in. I wont be taking mine out until the whole motor is being built... What do you want me to do, Mike?

Post in the parts wanted section of the forums for a set. They shouldn't be hard to get; there are a lot of blown engines laying around.

Anyone reading this....pm sicksubie and sell him your cams.....

Anybody have an intake and an exhaust valve laying around? I want to verify the tip length and retainer groove set up before I call on the valves and don't have any handy with me here in tampa.

eh, nevermind. rarely does anyone ever pop up and kindly share info like that so I just ordered a couple new ones assuming I'd be waiting till I get back to the shop in miami otherwise.

Yeah, the second set I am sending is one out of the motor I told you that you could have. Mike needed them for his car... If he isn't using the ones in his bad motor than maybe he can give them to you

He's talking about me. We need more cams though. It's going to be a couple or few weeks before I get the cams out of the other engine I'm building and I'd like to send out the cores sooner than that. I also need cores to send out for Jonathan who's in Iraq and thus obviously can not send in cores right now.

So we could still use a couple more sets of cams for cores right away.
