more funny about our roads, Pittsburgh specifically....

* Western PA roads have greatly enhanced the driving abilities of area residents who get a daily dose of training in object avoidance and tactical maneuvering on city streets with man-sized potholes and highways full of orange construction cones

* The absence of a beltway system which causes the majority of East/West traffic to be routed through downtown Pittsburgh so as to better enjoy our breathtaking city

* The fact that you "can't get there from here" provides area drivers with a daily exercise in patience. Confusing road signs and roads that don't connect to each other were cited as the biggest pluses

* The well-designed short entrance/exit ramps off our highways and interstates affords those with higher performance sports cars to show off their acceleration capabilities

* The impending closure of the Fort Pitt Tunnels offers area motorists a chance to learn the back roads around downtown Pittsburgh

* The "textured" condition of our roads provides a major boon to the local economy each spring as people flock to auto repair shops and car dealerships

* Lack of driveways keeps Pittsburgh roadways crowded with parked cars and makes valet parking in more urban areas such a lucrative endeavor that there may even be less gambling and prostitution

* Truck drivers are especially enamored of the hills and tight, twisting turns which are a "must" for Western PA roads

* Area residents can often find a place to sit and catch their breath while walking up big hills thanks to the kind residents who have left chairs out by the side of the road to "reserve" their parking spaces.

* If you ever get lost you will find people in this region more than happy to provide you with directions to wherever you want to go (just don't expect any street names!)

* Pittsburgh has especially nice "main roads" which take you from a four-lane highway down to a two-lane cobblestone neighborhood street in just under a minute. You'll never get bored driving around here!

I think that has a lot to do why the SVX's in areas like mine never have bearing failures. No potholes, and very smooth roads.

But the heat has an impact on tranny's. My first one went out at 59k while driving the car like a grandpa. Good news though... full Warranty replacement.

the hills don't help, either. my temp gauge would shoot up quickest going up an incline.

I need a temp guage. These 110* days out here are probably beating me to death.

But I never feel the heat on my ankles stepping out of the car like I did on the 94. I think it somehow is running cooler on the 92. It could be that PWR radiator.

Our streets are bad here too (worst I've seen and I've driven to both coasts).

They once evaluated that over 60% of the streets in Winnipeg are beyond repair.

Frost and neglect are to blame.
