Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I replaced the oil seal on the crankshaft bearing cap to repair an oil leak in my SUBARU (not SVX) I bought two weeks ago. It's not a rear oil seal, it's a stick shape seal. Oil often leaks from here on EN07 engines.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I replaced steering rack (gearbox) and P/S pump of my brother's SUBARU vivio.

The gearbox had severe oil leaks and had to be refilled frequently. The used gearbox, which had the boots replaced and cleaned beforehand, is working very well.

The operating noise of the pump was also getting louder, so I replaced it with a used, overhauled pump that I had in stock.

The genuine repair kit has already been discontinued , but I decided to disassemble it to consider repair. It seems possible to obtain a general oil seal of the same size as the damaged oil seal.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

This weekend, I made some significant progress on the SVX.

1. picked up the new custom heater core. To be installed soon
2. Completed the timing belt replacement
3. Replaced the steering rack with a used JDM unit. New hoses, clamps, and hardware for exhaust
4. Replaced Thermostat and housing

I have to finish a few things in the engine bay (hoses and new pulleys) but my SVX feels like its coming together nicely.

Mike,

Please, for your own safety don't work under the SVX with only that pneumatic jack holding it up. Put something solid under the car.

Hi Larry, Thanks for the concern! The quickjacks are locked into position in that photo. I generally 'shake test' prior to getting underneath any of my cars.

When I am not using the QuickJack (have the 7000lb cap version), I use a Sunex Low Profile Long Reach jack, and set the car on Esco 3 Ton Jack stands. Chocks are in play if the car is on two stands only.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today, I attempted to order a new center timing cover, which is sadly NLA and not at any dealer in the US. I will attempt to shave my slightly swollen cover so it does not contact my new OEM crank pulley.

I also ordered new OE rollers for both the ac and ps accessory belt tension.

Timing belt covers are already discontinued few years ago. The tensioner pulley is also discontinued, but the bearing can be replaced.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today, I installed and torqued my new crank pulley and verified clearance with the timing cover. Installed the radiator and several replacement hoses. Replaced the fuel return hose coming off the intake.

I then moved onto installing the new fabricated heater core. This did not fit in the car and was damaged as a result of attempting to adjust the pipes. I'm going back to the radiator shop to have a new one fabricated (again). Hopefully they can turn it around soon and I can get my car back together.

Next, I will repair the wiring to the security connector in the cabin.

Noriyasu, my cruise computer ends in P# 000. I see the item sent is ending in 020.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I brought my heater core to the shop this morning to be re-fabricated. Hopefully, this is redone (correctly this time) soon.

Thank you. I'd forgotten about the use of those connectors to switch the display between Celsius (unconnected) and Fahrenheit (connected).

It is made from 020 but it modified to fit your car. I tested it with test bench which cable connection is for JDM SVX. It should works.

Original 020 can not turn on power by cruise button in JDM SVX. You will be able to power on the unit by the button and able to see indicator.

Fantastic. I will give it a try as soon as the car is back together. I have the old computer and that sensor in a box, which I will ship out to you soon.

You do not need hurry. As I told you before, you should confirm modified cruise control unit with actual car enough. If it has trouble, you need spare unit for a while though I believe that is low possibility.

It worked on test bench up to 250Km/h but I have not tested such a high speed with actual car.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Ok, I will wait until I can road test. Hopefully in the next month or so.

Yesterday, I replaced the last of the original transmission and PS hoses. Yes, the original rubber from 1991 was still on my car, and they were looking very tired.

I also inspected the fuel hoses under the rear of the car. These are also original, so I may replace with newer rubber hose soon, as well as the short hoses on top of the tank that connect to the hard lines. I'd like to drive the car with some peace of mind, so getting the 33 year old hoses out of the equation is probably a good idea.

Today, I will repin the door lock module connector as a previous owner failed at splicing in an aftermarket security module.

Repinned the door lock module today with a new connector. Working on removing some crimp splices that were added into the dash wiring by a previous owner.
