Overheating and pushing coolant out of overflow tank

Hi Folks! HELP! Having problems with my 92 SVX. Developed an overheating problem and is the craziest thing I've ever had on any car I've owned. With thermostat installed and 50/50 mix coolant, can drive the car for maybe 40 - 60 miles and as soon as I slow down the temp shoots up. I have installed a new waterpump( old one was leaking out of weep holes) and new timing belt. Same results. No external leaks and I plugged the radiator hoses and pressurized the Block with 35 psi. of air and it held all afternoon. No steam or smoke coming from exhaust while car is running and no apparent misfire and engine seems to be running fine! Tried it without the thermostat installed and got the same result. Any ideas?:

Re: Overheating and pushing coolant out of overflow tank

Did you burb the engine by tilting it to get rid of the air lock .... there is a bleed nipple on the engine somewhere to do this --- someone else might remember this issue...

Re: Overheating and pushing coolant out of overflow tank

Hi Surtees,

That was my next question. I know my Nissan Pathfinder(V-6) had one on top of the intake manifold. Was wondering if this engine had the same setup. Didn't have a problem when I changed radiator, thermostat, and hoses before. ???
