2.5L N/A or wrx tranny?
Need some tips.
My old 2.2L tranny is leak where the driveshaft came in. And i have been look at the wrx tranny and i see that is some work that have too bee done. So i woundring should i go for wrx tranny or will the 2.5L legacy tranny hold the power that the eg33 gives. Then i can use the the clutch systems i have now. My plan is to use the car in some ''race like this'' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hqSsA1vpH4

+1
Remove the driveshaft (possibly the exhaust if needbe) and the seal is easily replaceable. Should be relatively cheap. If you end up deciding to look for other transmissions, over here in the states, the 99-2001 Impreza 2.5 RS is often a better option than a turbo trans. They don't get modded for high power so sheered gears is never an issue, slightly better gearing compared to the WRX and same strength and the best part for you is that you can swap your "cable parts" onto that trans since it is from an N/A. The turbo transmissions cannot be swapped from hydraulic to cable or vice versa. I realize that the Subies available in other markets vary greatly, especially since you lucky people had the WRX well before North America. |
