You obviously never looked at Obama's voting record to see how much money he voted for "special interests" OR how he really voted on gun issues or tax increases. BS campaign rhetoric is one thing but past voting records really tell the truth and predict the future.

Re: The people have spoken!

You people remind me of Bill O'Reilly. And seriously, republican or not, that is NOT who you want to sound like. Thats shock jock crap. Alot of Mob mentality & propaganda speech, with side line circus crap skewed beyond recognition at the core of its issues.

I personally reserve judgement on Obama. I think the movement of youth in politics is going to continue, and I hope that it can fix alot of the VERY serious problems going on internally in this country (seriously, 5% of the population holding 95% of wealth? This is a problem[I am not suggesting solutions]). That being only one. Possibly not the worst of them.

Now, I said HOPE. I really don't know if he can do it. I don't know if the direction he is going in is correct. On his own, he really wouldn't be able to really RADICALLY change things. But with the mobilization of youth, he certainly can. For better or worse. (some might think its hard to get worse).

Mcain? Seriously....big changes? I didnt see it at all.

my 2 cents

cashier working at a grocery store for TWO YEARS - would you make him store manager? regional manager? CEO of the entire company?

senator working for TWO YEARS (yeah i'm sure he puts in 40hrs week, too ) - would you make him Commander-In-Chief of the US Military/President of the United States?

a bunch of idiots just did.

Are you serious? You have just elected the only guy that can save you from the disasters that GW and friends have created. The whole world recognizes it, and finally the majority of Americans have too. This will be the beginning of a very good thing the the US. i only wish Canada had such an inspiring and charismatic leader to take control of this country.

Absolutely, indecisiveness in the leaders of this country have been its short coming for years. Obama will not make a single move until it is cleared to be beneficial to his special interest groups. He is a suit, always has been and always will be.

I agree with Landshark 100% on this one, he has NO experience, ad should have been left off the ticket on this basis alone

What upsets me more than anything else is.... Drumroll... MANY people voted for him soley on the basis that he is black... Seriously, watching the news coverage last night, there was NO talk of his plans or programs, just the chatter and interviews w/ other African Americans about how they are pleased to see a black as a president... They couldn't have cared less about his policies or ideals, just the color of his skin... It disgusts me not that there is going to be a black president, but that he is going to be a president most likely because he is black.

Take out all the people who voted for him because he was black and he still would have carried the election.

Don't forget to take out the people who voted against him, and for McCain, for the same reason, and you get the same result. Get over it Tom.

Re: The people have spoken!

Tom he certainly didn't win it because he is black. He won it convincingly in spite of being black.

Re: The people have spoken!

I am not making a statement based on any evidence I have received. I make it based on the general media coverage after the elections last night. It was extremely irritating that race was such a huge topic, when there is much more to be discussed. I guess my statements were worded strongly but don't take it the wrong way.

The way I see it is, Democrats are so excited for a chance at "change"... I see it as a chance to change from bad to worse.

Re: The people have spoken!

i walked in the front doors of school this morning to a chant of OBAMA! OBAMA!

i am not big on politics and did not necessarily pay attention or follow either party, but what frustrates me the most about these high school kids shouting OBAMA is that i know half of them have no clue what Obama's policies even were/are

in no way do i mean this to sound racist, but i can tell you for a fact that a large portion of kids at my school (most not even old enough to vote, so this didnt necessarily affect any voting decisions) cheer on Obama solely because he is a young black guy

Re: The people have spoken!

I won't argue voting record because I don't have the specifics of every single vote cast, and, as has been shown, sometimes a vote against something is related to hidden additions to the bill or parliamentary procedure. I don't, however, expect any proposals for massive revisions of firearms regulations.

I would ask you, however, to consider, the masterful management of the Obama campaign, organizing, fund-raising and getting out the vote. Obama won primarily because of the effectiveness of his campaign organization. Compare that with the totally incompetent management of the McCain campaign. Internal infighting, inabilty to keep on message, poorly staffed, poorly organized local offices, a cluster f*ck, if ever there was one. Even the selection of Gov. Palin, darling of the "base" wound up being a major mistake that would have been anticipated by any competent organization. While attractive, the woman was clearly clueless on national policy. Her Katie Couric interview, a fair, if relentless interrogation, on basic national issues, was an embaraassment. Competent managers should have anticipated this result and avoided it. Similar sorts of superficial publicity stunts are not what we need to deal with this country's grave issues, and competent leadership would have avoided this debacle.

There was an article on fivethirtyeight.com that descirbed just how pitiful was the McCain campaign orgnization. This opinoin has been publicly backed up by many of the major Republican pundits who have said that organization that Obama and his staff put together was orders of magnitude better than the McCain organization.

Then I ask you who has demonstrated better competency to be the CEO of this country.

No and No. Why does everyone fail to see that it wasnt bush alone who cluster f*cked us. Look back and see what bills passed by former presidents are coming up to bight us in the ass. Nah its easier to point the figure at the current one. People do no realize what they have elected into office. Tom I'm on the same level as you. Want to bet he won because majority of african americans who voted for him only did so because of his skin color. Ask a group of voters on what Obama's policies are and I bet they can't answer. I was amazed speaking to fellow coworkers who couldnt tell me Obama's stances on anything but were voting for him.
