Heartland, or Not-Very-Smart Land?
Sometimes I am ashamed to live in this country.

Al Jazeera?
There is an impartial source!

Source is irrelevant, listen to what is coming out of these people's mouths.

Why would I get out when that would dramatically increase the risk of death by American bombings/invasion?
I am at little risk from injury of any kind staying where I am, especially since there is so much fodder walking around absorbing all the tragedy. Me living here is not the problem, it's opportunist bigots like you who should leave. -- I also think that no matter where you go, you will be surrounded by incompetence and cruelty. Well, that is a given for you, but I mean for anyone in general since it is so widespread. -- Oh, and I did say "sometimes", meaning less than a majority of the time, because I rarely come into contact with people like this, and usually only online.

Re: Heartland, or Not-Very-Smart Land?
This poll is ridiculous. Do you REALLY THINK that most people in the midwest think and talk that way? Or are you just trying to incite a mean spirited thread?

So far they have been pretty silly, jumping to conclusions and all. I'm being chastised for pointing out how horrible people can be. I would like to live in a perfect bubble where nothing is ever disgusting as we all would but just recently my eyes have been opened to the scope of the absolute ridiculous behaviour we have seen here. It is more widespread than you think! It is far more widespread than I imagined. Sure, I know there are racists and religious zealots and generally moronic buffoons but have you ever stopped to think exactly what percentage of the country they are composed? I've been thinking about it lately and if I were to randomly hazard a guess I would feel safe spouting off a number like 40% and call it conservative. Maybe a week ago I would have said 20. Ten years ago I would have said 10 to 5. I think perhaps people only see this as a joke but one of our favorite cliches is to label "most of the people who are not us" as stupid, and quite frankly I am beginning to think this is the truth. Maybe they are not knuckle-dragging lummoxes, but perhaps skilled and somewhat intelligent people with incredibly stupid and misguided beliefs. Is that something we should be proud of? Hell no. If some backwater hillbilly ass people go around calling people niggers and terrorists and those people get the attention of the world there is a real problem and we all are guilty by association of just living in the same country as them. I'm not ignorant to the flip side of people. I know what good can be done. If you think otherwise then you are one of those retarded people. How could anyone honestly come to the conclusion that one guy is so blind based on 9 innocuous words? Hm? Do you feel confident knowing that millions of misguided and just plain ridiculous people are helping decide the course of your future? I don't. Maybe a totalitarian rule is the only thing that will keep the stupid from spreading farther than it has. I could easily enough learn a few languages, get a few degrees and join the system. I don't have anything to fear. Rising prices, recession, bad weather, "terrorism", stupid ass people... none of this bull**** really affects me. My future looks bright. Do you know why I worry? I don't worry for me. I worry for all the dumbass people whom I believe have every right to not be affected by bull**** that I don't even have to worry about. Conversely, these same people do not give a damn that I would gladly spent copious amounts of time trying to help them despite my very worry-free, easy-riding life. So to answer your question, yes I am trying to incite mean spirits. How are people going to change their habits unless they realize that other people are pissed off about them? Hm? We can't go around ignoring the trash just because the other side of the street looks clean. It's a joke. I thought it was funny because it rhymed. The poll is a satire of itself to maybe potentially help me make a point. I was hoping to get some decent thread action instead of the usual crew getting all offended because they are/know a person like that. Yes I can be mean spirited, but to be honest there are a lot of people that deserve my negative attention. Ignoring the problem does not make it go away, you know.

I don't get it. Is the video trying to say that Obama is not a terrorist?
