what's special about turbo trans?
I know there is something different about the Legacy Turbo transmission compared to other transmissions. I am trying to figure out what engine/transmission/flywheel/clutch I want to use in the '94 Legacy track car I'm building, but I'm not sure what is compatible.
Here are my 2 main options 1) EG33+Legacy NA Trans+Lightweight flywheel+stg 2 clutch 2) EJ20TT+Legacy NA Trans+Lightweight Flywheel+stg 2 clutch My main questions... Will the flywheel and clutch for the NA Legacy 5MT bolt up to the EJ20TT motor? Will the Legacy NA transmission bolt up to the EJ20TT? I want to buy the clutch now, but if they are not compatible then I have a lot more thought to put into it. Thanks for any help you can offer! This is all for GRM 2008. If the project goes to plan, I will have something cool to post pics of in a few months

I believe the answers will be yes, yes, and yes. I think taht everything you asked is compatible.

The answer to all your questions is yes.
As for the Turbo 5MT, it's stronger than the NA version because the USDM Legacy Turbo put down about 30more hp than its NA counterpart.

not sure about the twin turbos but it probably applies... Turbo transmissions tend to be pull type clutch activation where as non turbo is push. This was to create more clamping force w/o killing your leg pushing in the clutch pedal. So, The flywheel you could probably use unless it is stepped. You need to find out whether or not the trans is a pull or push type.

To use the turbo trans, you'll need the hydraulic clutch setup to go with it. The main difference in the transmission itself is the internals are shot peened to make them stronger.

So basically, the flywheel difference is only an issue if I want to use the turbo transmission. Thanks! That's sweet...we don't have to decide our engine for a while now =)
