not sure why left turns would only be affected but I'd check the belt tension and check the front main pulley for separation also.

No. I didn't. I am going to see YT in a couple of weeks, to have him do some work. I'll have him look at it. Thanks.

You can also have someone watch the PS pulley while someone else sits in the idling car and turns the steering wheel lock to lock. The PS pulley shouldn't pause or hesitate at all. If it does, either the belt is shot/loose or the crank pulley is separating.

Are any of these possible problems a cause for "immediate" concern? Because I plan on driving down to see YT about some work in a couple weeks. The car is a daily driver( about 10 miles a day) and the drive down to see Tom would be about 2hrs.

If the belt breaks or the pulley completely separates, you will lose all PS and the alternator. If you use no lights/accessories/brake lights/turn signals and you have a healthy battery, you can go about 1/2 hour without an alternator.
Also if the crank pulley completely separates, it could go in and damage the timing belt cover (no big deal - you'll have a scarred timing belt cover, chicks dig scars ) or press the timing belt cover into the timing belt and knock it off (big deal - car stops running right there). Even if you can't find someone to help you watch the PS pulley, at least put a line of paint on the pulley to check to see if the separation has started. I put a line on my non symptomatic pulley and check the line every time I have the hood open. If the problem lies in the PS pump or rack itself, then yeah, the worst case is you'll lose PS and will have to strong arm it. Not bad for driving... parallel parking is fun....

Sorry man, didn't mean to scare you. Just trying to get the point a cross that with less than 5 minutes of time you can eliminate two possibilities without getting under the car or using a tool.
I've "lost" the crank pulley in two SVX's that I've been driving. In mine, it shredded the alt/ps belt, AC belt and ripped the timing belt cover, I drove another 20 miles to get to a safe place. When it happened while I was driving Melis's car, it shredded both belts but did no other damage...

Can you take a picture when you get a chance of where I should draw that line?

I just found this online and digitally "painted" the line. The pulley is made of three concentric rings, the center metal section bolts to the crank. The center rubber ring provides dampening. The outer metal ring is wrapped by the belts.
These pulleys fail when the rubber and one of the metal sections become "unbound" this allows the center section to be turned by the crank while the outer section doesn't spin as fast. If the pulley is still good, that line will remain as one solid line, if it separates into segments, then it's time to replace the pulley before you make any long trips.

Ok. Thanks Dave. I think I understand. Now, I can get to/see this pully easily from under the hood? I am assuming it is in the front of the engine, near the radiator. Is there space for me to be able to get my hand in there and paint that line?

If you want to get fancy, you can paint one of those spirals like they put on the front of propellers and spinning turbines.

This could indicate a faulty, sticking or dirt affected valve within the rack.
