does anybodys car get as hot as mine?
what i meen is. is there alot of heat coming from under the dash and off the transmission hump in everybodys svx. all that heat along with almost no ac and the windows not letting in a breeze, its always alot hotter in my car than it is outside. and i live in Tucson, its allready a million degrees out. it seems like if the ac blew cold up top it still wouldnt help below. i put a thermometer in my car while parked this summer and it went almost to 140 and thats with pretty dark tint.

The hump does get warm, but an external tranny cooler helps. I would get your AC serviced so that you have that. It makes a big difference. Open the sun roof if you have one. That will let more air in the windows.

I'm hardly concerned about the seat or the wheel; if dumpsta is talking about the same thing I am, it's all about the tranny hump, which can get downright toasty, rather than locations higher than the driver's feet or so.

Can't say I've noticed inordinate heat from the floor or transmission hump of my cars. Just now I made a run some 6 miles down the highway, did some intown stop-and-go driving on the way back, outside temp low 80s, climate control on 72, and the top and sides of the transmission hump felt barely warm. And this in a car with a stock automatic and no aux. cooler.
My thinking is, when your AC's busted and it's really hot out, it just SEEMS like the transmission introduces more heat into the car. That or the factory heat shields have been removed, and/or the exhaust relocated. When any car has been sitting in the sun on a 100 degree day for just minutes, interior temps of 140+ are common. dcb |

good to see im not the only one. i thought maby my transmission was getting too hot or something. ive never had ac in any of my cars. or i just didnt use it. if you dont have tint its almost not worth it.
ive never had a car that got as this one on the inside. even at night when it was in the 80/90 degree area i can still feel alot of heat. the svx is just a winter car i guess, in tucson at least. even though it doesnt snow here. i put a towel over my leather seat when im driving, so i dont look like ive been running a marathon or something. the towel was accually in the back seat when i bought the car in phoenix, wonder why? |

There's a heat shield under the hump by the shifter. Removing it, as was done when my 5speed was put in, causes it to heat up from the exhaust pipes. My shifter is hot to the point of burning my hand when it's been running for a bit, and i'm considering putting the heat shield back in.

You ought to consider getting one of these
but it may not work well if your window tint is very dark Joe

Set your climate control on AUTO with the temp on 72. If your AC isn't cooling and you're feeling lots of heat from beneath the dash, it could be that your climate control has gone bonkers. dcb |

One of our local news stations did a test on that one. They say no good.

The idea behind it is good. Anything that is able to pump hot air out of your car while stationary in the sunshine must be good for the interior.
These things are made in China and sell for a little as $8 a pop including profit, so it is hard to see how they would last. Possibly make a bigger fan model using solar components might work? It is always an idea that attracted me, use the energy that is causing the damage to keep the car cool. Joe

You're welcome to drop by and stick your fingers up under the console and burn them on the tranny hump for as long as you please. You'll get your fingerprints back someday.

yah an ac tune up would definately help. but ive spent too much on reparing body, cause some dumbass hit me with a van while i was parked at work. of course i work at a smokeshop so i shoulda seen it coming. and i have that annoying tick from mid left side of engine (first come first serve). as for that fan thing, id need ten of em. it couldnt move the air fast enough. you just learn to spot shade as soon as you pull in a parking lot.
