According to memory(the last time I had the gauge cluster out) those switch clusters are "one peice".
Meaning they are all housed in one large peice of plastic. If there is a button assembly IN there I'm sure it could be made to function. Or at least it could be made to "push", but I don't think there are any contacts, or "wiring" in there.
Does anyone have any idea, or pics, of JDM or Euro models? Do they have switches there?
I just cut a small hole in the back of the coin holder to run the wires through, and affixed a generic switch in there. But of course I also have a parts car if I change my mind.
It of course doesn't look stock, but nobody can see it behind the steering wheel anyway.

Doesn't look like it...

http://www.subarusvx.com/images/carp...nterior058.jpg

And yeah, they're one piece. I was just kinda hoping or something, I guess. Heh.

EDIT: Was driving home from picking up food (I always get revelations while driving, haha) tonight, I thought about the JDM cars. They're the reverse of the USDM ones... so the switch cluster with the hazards and defroster and blank is on the left instead of the right. So that means... that the JDM cars have a right-hand cluster with three switches, right? They're not the same switches, but they have the same connector don't they? If they do... it shouldn't be too hard to swap the buttons across and use the last switch as a 'power' switch...

But then I'd have to source a JDM switch cluster...

The Euro and Canadian SVXes have heated-seat buttons in place of the coin holder. Might be easier to get than JDM buttons.

Oh, there's an idea. And only $80 to boot. Well, we'll see.

How about taking out that dumb shift lock mechanism and mounting the power button where it is on the non-US models?

I don't think anybody knows Cruisen. Nomake was the first to try this mod in the US [at least, that we know of], although it is quite a number of years ago now that the mod was suggested.

Asked to guess, the TCU still has the power map inside, and the gearbox still sends the same signals to the inputs. So I would expect it to work for you.

It is actually a very easy thing to try to achieve. Your only problem might be the light. Is yours one of the ones that does not light up on the dash when Power mode is engaged?

If so, then you won't know till you drive it if you are in Power mode.

Re: Power Mode Selection

Just posting to say I dug into my photos and found the ones I used for this thread, reuploading them to imgur. All the photos in the first post should work now.

Re: Power Mode Selection

a little bit of a bump, wondering if anybody has wiring pinouts or such, would like to disable my parking light switch and turn it into a power mode switch.

To be honest it is easier for me to select it using the pedal rather than the key but if you want to do that, you can go to the how to power mode and connect those two to the switch.
Based on the wiring diagram that I have, the switch connects "fuse block pin E8" to "fuse #21 (F/B pin D11) "
or "red-wht" to "blu-red"
Hope you can find the wires
