Yeah,,, it really does.

It really amazes me how well they knew the country they had founded. They all had an incredible grasp on what tyranny is, and how it could affect them. They managed to set up a governmental system to check "themselves". It amazes me how good of a job they did. Here we are, one of the youngest countries in the world with the oldest living constitution.... wow.

Now if we can just get these goofballs up there now... out.., and somehow find people to run our country with the vision they had then.....

Just a dream.

The Constitution of the United States was said to be "divinely inspired". It amazes me how the checks and balances of this document have been abused and few of us take notice. The government has put fear into its citizens. The fear of being arrested for voicing your opinion about the Iraq war, our government, and our President. I believe 9-11 happened for reasons that America has imposed itself on the world for too long and some "radical islamists" were sick of it. I do not support what they did on that day but understand their frustration with American foriegn policy. Why are we in Iraq in the first place? What is are achievement going to be?

You want to dig up obscure or ancient quotes and make them applicable to today?? How about another John Q Adams quote?

Remember good old Patrick Henry??? How many REALLY know what he said????? I bet none of you know the complete framework of his famous statement------

Patrick Henry, who is called the firebrand of the American Revolution, is still remembered for his words, "Give me liberty or give me death." But in current textbooks the context of these words is deleted. Here is what he said: "An appeal to arms and the God of hosts is all that is left us. But we shall not fight our battle alone. There is a just God that presides over the destinies of nations. The battle, sir, is not of the strong alone. Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it Almighty God. I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death."

These sentences have been erased from our textbooks.

Was Patrick Henry a Christian? These are the words he wrote shortly before his death: "I have disposed of all my property to my family. There is one thing more I wish I could give to them, and that is the Christian religion. If they had that and I had not given them one cent, they would be rich. If they have not that, and I had given them the world, they would be poor."

We rewrite history all of the time to suit our political goals or beliefs---so why not more of it????
