Beav,
I measured the driveshaft angles on my car a few years ago after I converted to a 5MT, and I can't find the piece of paper where I scribbled it. My recollection is that the angles I measured are different that yours. I think that I measured around 3-4 deg at the front, a few degrees at the center and a few degrees at the rear. All the angles in the same direction to accommodate the large tiltback of the motor/tranny. For sure I remember that the driveshaft also doglegs to the side to make up for the horizontal offset of the rear diff pinion shaft. What driveshaft is on your car now?

Stock, three cardan joints.
The angles I quoted were not only from memory (my scribble sheet is at the shop) but were also representing the math, not the actual angle from the floor.

Oops, I mean to say that I measured the angle of the joints. At any rate, if you have 6 degree joint angle at the front and less than 1 deg at the middle and rear, then that is a candidate for putting a CV joint at the front. My only recommendation is to look at the horizontal dogleg angles and make sure that those are small.

I agree. I didn't notice any dogleg but I didn't measure for it either.
I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve before cutting in a cv joint. It may be a while before I get around to it but I'll let you know how it goes when I do.

What years had what type of driveshaft and are the two types interchangeable?
I have a bad U-joint on my '92 driveshaft and am looking for a replacement. Does anyone happen to have one? |

They are interchangeable. I posted to your other thread...
