Tire size advice
My Forester has the stock 215/60/16 tires on it. I'd like to put snow tires on soon and I have acccess to a decent used set of 205/55/16 snow tires. Obviously these would be more narrow and the sidewall would be a little shorter, but is there any reason I shouldn't use 205/55/16's??? Is there a way to figure out speedo error with a shorter tire?

Use this: http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/ It'll ask you to plug in the gear ratios, final drive as well as tire size. You can adjust the tire size to see the difference. -Chike

A 205/60 would be 0.5" shorter, and the speedo would read slow by 2% (60 mph is really 59 mph). You could use either size, provided those sizes are available in the tire you want.

If they are available you could also get 205/65-16's for a total height of 26.5"
