Holes for a ext. filter?
I was curious to find that I dont have the holes for the ext atf filter. I see dimples, actually a couple of them. Which ones do I use? I have the filter kit . So my question is where do I drill? I am going to match the filter holder holes with the filter holder. I dont want to drill my baby, , shouldnt there be holes pre drilled? Anyone have a photo of one installed. I saw Aredubjay's photo, which was good but I need more detail. Thanks

I didn't put mine on (and it isn't there anymore since I went to an aftermaket setup with temp sending unit); however, it was attached at the same point and using the bolts that held on the tow/tie-down hook (driver's side).

Ah yes, I forgot that's where it was bolted. Cool. Meanwhile, here's a good diagram of the routing for the Campaing Filter, from Beav's locker. The pic is actually about installing an external cooler, but, the filter routing would be the same.

Click HERE to get to the TSB for the installation instructions of the ATF filter kit.
The bracket attaches over the left tie down hook. Take off 3 bolts holding the hook to the frame and, using the 3 new bolts in the kit, attach the bracket over top of the tie down hook.

Thanks!!!
Thanks you guys are the best, where would I be without the network. Oh one more thing, Any links to installing the little internal screen? (pics/diagrams)
Did anyone ever have this situation. I Went to autozone for the atf pan gasket and they had a part number for the filter. They said it came in a kit. So I asked them is it the same as the pathfinder they said no. So I said are you sure its a filter($53.30), he's like yea from Beck/arnley. If we dont have filters how come they have a listing? And should I buy a atf pan gasket when changing the internal screen? I read that it was changed to a metal bead. Thanks for the replys and thanks in advance to any more replies and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, I enjoyed mine hope everyone else did. |

trans filter
There is indeed a filter inside your pan. I have changed two of them. The 'kit' should include a filter, the gasket and a thin o-ring. I've gotten mine from Pep Boys because they sell Purolater filters. I think it is about $29.00. Very easy to replace. Just hard to avoid the drips. Good luck!

Any time you drop the pan, it's a good idea to replace the gasket.
