Apparently, installing a sending unit in the AT pan is fairly tight. I took my SVX to a tranny shop, and they would not install it in the pan because they felt there was not enough room.
There is always the issue of whether it is more pertinent to monitor the temp of the ATF exiting or entering the tranny. It depends on what you feel is most important. My feeling is that both are important to know. Knowing the peak temp of the oil is useful in determining the rate of breakdown of the oil. On the other hand, it is also useful to know that the temp of the ATF that is coming into the AT so that you have an idea of the initial temp of the ATF as it flows through the AT. My sending unit is installed in an aftermarket spin-on filter mount. The filter is inline *after* the coolers, so it reads the approximate temp of the ATF coming into the AT. If there is anyone who has some time, what would be really cool is if someone could mount two sending units to monitor the temp of the ATF exiting and entering the tranny. I think this could be done using two spin-on filter mounts, one before the cooler(s) and one after the cooler(s). You could use a single gauge and just set up a toggle switch to select between ATF outlet and inlet temp. This info would be a valuable resource for the SVX community.

If I am not mistaken, there are a couple members (one close to me) that have this set up already. I will check with them and try to get them to post the information. If anyone else has this, we would like to hear from you.
