Ford Ranger brake problem
Sometimes while coming to a slow stop, the pedal pulsates and goes further down to the floor. It feels almost the same when you have air in the line. I bleed the lines and it didn't change. My rear drum brakes are on it's last leg and I will replace them this week. Would this be the cause for my problem, not having enough pads left? PS It is not the antlock brakes.

Re: Ford Ranger brake problem
How do you know that the pulsations are not caused by the ABS system?
Anyways, pedal going down after a few seconds often means that the main brake cylinder needs repair.

Re: Ford Ranger brake problem
I'm a "Ford Guy", so, I may have a few insights for you.
Check your brake fluid. If your back shoes are thin, then your fluid will be low. This won't cause a pulsing pedal, but it WILL cause the master cylinder to suck air. (causing the pedal to sink like you describe) Odds are the pulsing pedal is the front brakes....not to worry, unless it feels like the truck is coming apart at the seams. In that case rotors may be the order of the day. Ford ABS makes a really weird screeching/moaning nose when active. If it were acting up it'd be painfully obvious.

Re: Ford Ranger brake problem
The answer to your problem is on the tailgate. It should even be circled in blue
