AWD problems

hello i am a new owner of a 1992 svx. i am having problems with the awd its not working and i am getting a noise from around there. when it is in drive. what could be wrong with it

How do you know that the AWD is not working?
Does it spin the front wheels?
If they do, is that when you hear the noise?
Or do you hear the noise when you are just driving along?

it spins the front wheels and the noise is when i am driving down the road and when i stop it goes away

You probably have two problems.
The lack of AWD, do you get the power light flashing, at start up?

The noise in the transmission, could be a few things like, the front diff, a front axle joint.
Does the noise change when on/off the throttle?
Does it do it when turning?
What does the noise sound like, a clunking, a whirring, a clicking?

What bit?
The power light is on the dash. The diff is just behind the engine. The axle joints are each side of the front wheels.

what would cause the awd to go out like that
and ya it does go away when i let off the throttle

I tend to think it is the front differential making the noise.

If the power light flashes on start-up. Then there is a code stored in the computer telling what the trouble may be.

click on "SVXipedia" and look for the section on how to check tranmission error codes to find out what it is complaining about
