it wont change from 1st to 2nd.. i dont know how it went wrong... just age took affect im guessing... looked after the car ![]() the mechanic said its definately the transmission.... but to be 100% sure... i'll wait until i can afford a mechanic to strip the car down, and then have enough $$ for the new trans to drop in straight away rob. |

You should provide here all the details you are able. Did the fault suddenly appear? If so were there any prior circumstances which could have in any way, caused the malfunction? Describe exactly what took place. If the fault appeared over a period, what were the symptoms as it developed? Does the transmission simply show no signs of shifting up from first, or do you think a shift may have taken place, but it is slipping freely in second? What happens relative to moving the selector? Have you run a diagnostic check? If not you should do so. Advice in this regard is available here. The point is that there are faults which could be causing the problem, able to be attended to, without removing the transmission. e.g. Band brake adjustment, speed sensors failed, or an associated wiring fault. It is important to exclude this possibility before rushing into that which is expensive. Please do not set high hopes, but do provide more exact information. There will be many reading, who will wish to help you save money, if this is at all possible. ![]() ![]()

the car will be back tomorrow.. will have a little drive with it then
the exact story... friday night, drove to melb. very hot day, 35deg maybe 90min into the trip... at pakenham... proberly the first set of lights slowed no worries.. went to take off, and it took off fine... but getting to the 3rd speed im pretty sure it wasn't 2nd..(mechanic said it was, maybe is now...) it jsut jumped from gear, into a netrual stage... the fault appeared instantly too... the car showed no signs, at all of any problems coming up.. also have not been able to run any diag tests... no one where i am does them... and i cant afford to truck the car fropm every city to city to find out.. I need to drive the car a bit more to find out the exact details... like i said, drove to melb.... had RACV come, and they guy said hes get it towed, so it was... have not driven since... Will find more info tomorrow, keep everyone posted cheers, Rob |
