Flowmaster 80 series
Here is a question for the guys with Flowmasters, I tried to search for it, but could not find an answer.
A member told me that the Flowmaster 80 series was the correct muffler to use with the SVX, but my question is, does this "bolt up" or do I need to take it to a shop for custom bending??

For the muffler install maybe around 100 or a lil more. If the pipe is rusty they may need to put a new one in.

Yeah, about $100 sounds right including the custom tubing and attaching decent tips.

Yes, but with some extra work. The Flowmaster crossflow appropriate for the SVX (42583) has 2.5" diameter outlets, and the inlet for SVX tips is something like 1.75" diameter, so the muffler shop would have to fashion up some sort of reducer.

Custom bending.
It also requires custom mounts. (they just tack welded a small strip of flat stock between my muffler and the frame. |

flowmaster 80 series
Unless you enjoy having your car sound really really loud, I wouldn't go with the 80 series. All it is, is a cross-flow style 40 series, very loud. I would stick with a 50 or 60 series muffler. Check my locker. Hooker headers (Holley) has a great muffler (Aero Chamber muffler) that is cross-flow design that I have been wanting to try if I ever got a new SVX. Its part# 21721HKR. You also have to consider sound tone. The 50 or 60 series produces a deeper tone that is not as loud and raspy. When I heard a 80 series on a SVX, it sound like a GSX-R 600 taking off. (Higher pitched, raspier) Check out Hooker Header's site.
