Rebuilding Axles
I spoke with a guy at http://www.raxles.com/ he does not have any parts so he can not rebuild the stock axles but after talking with him he said he can get newer STI axle parts.
I told him I think there is some interchangeability with the svx but I was not sure exactly how much. Do any of you know if he could build svx axles using a stock axle and sti joints? |

Re: Rebuilding Axles
The hub splines are the same count. Not sure if the axle parts would swap, though.
The differential ends of the shaft are different.

Re: Rebuilding Axles
Do you want to email him and see what he could do? He asked me if I know of any workable swaps, I don't know enough about the Subaru axles I only know that the svx hubs will take sti axles.

Re: Rebuilding Axles
Those are of poor quality and many times cause vibrations. I'd trust a raxles rebuild for long term repairs. If you need to get by, then do the cheap axle. There's a decent chance they could use STI joints as long as they have the SVX inner and hub parts. Worth a shot. If so, it's a quality option for axles.

Re: Rebuilding Axles
I've installed at least 5 in SVXes that had horrible vibrations immediately. Granted, I've installed a fair amount that had no issue, at least at time of install, but a Raxles you can pretty much rely on for another 15+ years.

Re: Rebuilding Axles
+1 for raxles.
I put them on my 92 pearlie a year after I bought it and had YT replace them on my 96 polo while he had it in the shop for a new engine. Definitely a quality product and outstanding customer service. .

Re: Rebuilding Axles
I put 2 after market front axles in, both right and left are now aftermarket, I kept my originals they are in the boxes in my garage, I think I will take them with me next time im going to gainsville, make a reason lol and see what he thinks.
I dont think I have any vibrations, but then again my auto trans gives me problems and the rear diff bushings are completely shot. |
