You'll want to get: http://bandexpanders.comze.com/1_2_Products.html for your radio.

Re: Loose rearview mirror
If you are going to replace it, might not be a good idea to get a used one that would have the "common problem"
I replaced mine with a auto dim compass type (Subaru forester) type and love it! Keith |

Re: Loose rearview mirror
+1 for autodim. I had one in my 2007 Legacy and loved it. I have been contemplating one for the Ebony for quite some time.

Re: Loose rearview mirror
you know with a wing on the trunk i really find that I don't use the rear mirror much since all I see is wing. (factory wing!!!!!!)

Re: Loose rearview mirror
luckily i picked up a stock rearview which is firm, so i swapped it out immediately
however, the one that i had was in much better shape than this one i put in i took the mirror off of the metal mounting bracket, and i peered inside the back.. and there appears to be a small nut/bolt combo in there, which might act as a tensioner, but ive no idea how to get at it noones disassembled these things? everyone just goes the replacement route? thats a shame =\ |

Re: Loose rearview mirror
This is an off the wall solution but it worked for me. I took some small pieces of a kneaded eraser (used by artists and draftsmen) and kneaded the eraser bits until they were nice and soft, then stuffed them all around the adjusting ball until you could hardly see them anymore. Left alone kneaded eraser hardens and now the mirror adjust stiffly.

I can attach installation instructions to a reply here for you if they don't provide enough information. It glues on the windshield and you can make it look like a factory job! I love mine! Keith |

Re: Loose rearview mirror
what do you do with the holes in your headliner if you're gluing the diff rearview onto your windshield?

Re: Loose rearview mirror
cut the mirror off in a place that allows you to keep the bracket part fastened and the kit has a way to cover the wires running to the mirror that will be glued to the windshield.
This can really work nice. Get glue at any auto parts place and be careful where you glue it on! Far enough out to keep it just out of the way of the sun visors when they are down. Keith |
