Winter Wiper Setting
For those who don't know, there is a rocker switch located under the driver's side dash to the left of the steering wheel which changes the windshield wipers between "summer" and "winter" settings. This controls where the wipers "park" when you shut them off. On "summer" setting, they park lower, against the "bumper" below the windshield itself, hiding them from sight under the hood. On the "winter" setting, they park higher, on the glass.
This is one of those things (like the telescoping steering column) that many owners don't find until they've had their SVX for a while. ![]()

I try not to drive the SVX in the winter because of how much salt they use on the road with how much salt is already in the air down here

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Mine are on winter year round, as I don't have the factory blades iwth the holders yet, and use cheap blades, so I don't want to have hte bent up more htan necessary. Once I get a set of factory blades it'll be a different story.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
I can't remember what I was doing when I found out that there were different settings for the blades. But when I found it, I remember thinking how odd it was to place it so far down there. Besides the odd placment, anyone wanna enlighten me on how much of a difference it makes if they are on or off? I've got the contouring blades.. The expensive ones...

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
I've left mine on the Winter setting since I bought the car 7 years ago, just because whenever I tried using it on Summer mode, the wipers would stop abruptly at the edge of the windshield whenver I used the Mist feature on the control stalk (pulling it towards yourself for one quick sweep). bugged the bejeebus outta me, so I kept it on Winter.
(Does Summer mode do this for everyone else too, or is there something wrong with my wiper motors / relay? [Not meant for a hi-jack, do not elaborate with technical posts ![]()

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
My switch has no effect on where my wipers park, but I also have the problem described above, where if they are on the intermittent setting or if I use the "mist" function, they pause briefly at the top of the travel. I have OEM blades, but I don't have the bumper thing on the blade itself, perhaps I need to order specific SVX blades?

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Would be cool to wire it to the outside temperature sensor... so that the wipers adjust based on the predefined outside temperature ranges. For example 0 - 40 = Winter, 41-110 = Summer.
Heheh, just an idea.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
On any days where precipitation is taking its toll, I park them high, and it's for the same reason mentioned above - in what we're calling "summer mode", the wipers, on their final pass before parking, do that wonky thing at the top of their swing unless they're in what we're calling "winter mode".
I can't vote; there's no selection for "My car's setting changes with the sky." ![]()

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
I wish that the wipers didn't do that silly pause thing, but whatever. It makes my car cool.
I keep mine in summer until ice hits then I move them. I don't like how high they park in winter mode for times other than winter.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
I switch to winter when it rains/drizzles so that I can swipe them quick without the long slow return of the summer setting.
