Arrow Transmission Fear

Ok here goes....

While on a four hour trip across half of texas on a hot summer day my transmission began to start miss behaving. My memory fails me but, I was probably cruising at a speed between 65-70 my transmission began to downshift on its own.

It would drop down a gear and have high rpms. If I would give it a little gas it would shift back up. I was wanting to use cruise control and not have to play with the throttle.

In my opinion, It was a hot day, long trip. I beleieve the temp was getting a little hot and the fluid my have been a little thin.

So, I make it to my destination (SVX has never left me stranded ). I proceed to take it to a shop and get the inner tranny filter changed and change all the tranny fluid. I also put in a little Lucas additive.

Improvement, the car showed better tranny performance.

My question is if I go down and have my tranny power flushed and refilled with ATF and a little additive, could the power flush quicken the death of my tranny by washing out belts or seal. Keep in mind I have no Idea what the inside of a tranny consists of.
