Why computers are good
So I sent my newly acquired SVX in to get the timing done since there had been no record of it being done before. Just got a call back from the dealer and he said everything looks great behind the timing belt covers which is good. I always like to get in good with the service manager, and on his own he did some reasearch on the car's history. Apparently before Bwana owned it, the 1st owner got a new engine under entended warranty around 78k miles. So my engine has 34k miles on it and the tranny has 22k on it. From what we gathered, when the engine swap was done, they used the original engine belts, and possibly plugs. I did the spark plug change Monday, and the rear two plugs were in pretty bad shape. They were NGK R, which I believe is OEM, correct me if I am wrong. The engine has a slight tick now, and the service manager confirmed that the #6 plug was causing the sound. I'm sure she'll be fine over time.
So now that I have new belts, I'm going to find a good tranny shop to do a power flush to add in new Hurst Hot Shift fluid and do the Permacool filter install. Smallcar shift kit is going in today when I get home. So there's my update. I finally get to drive the SVX full-time. Wo0t!
