Help! Overheating; fans not coming on at all
Hi,
Today in traffic I noticed that my temp needle was way on up close to the red area. I drove for a couple minutes in backed-up traffic until I could pull of and let it cool down before heading home. While waiting, I turned the key to the ON position and noticed that the radiator fans were not coming on. There is a small bit of coolant in the tank, it doesn't look sludgy. I had the diagnostic instructions with me; when I did the diagnostic (insert one wire into pin #2) the check engine light just flashed at a constant pace. Put 1 and 2 in and I got a code 12 (Starter circuit) which I would think has absolutely nothing to do with the radiator fans. The car has always started just fine. I looked at the fan fuses, they appear to be okay. I swapped around all the relays with the high-beam relay and the high-beams came on every time, so I would assume that all the relays work. I also disconnected the engine temperature sensor, but that didn't make the fans come on either. What else could be wrong? I really want to punch this car in the face. Thanks, I appreciate any and all help. Last edited by gcookaustin; 04-22-2004 at 04:13 PM. |
