I'd still like to see some pictures or timing slips from someone who has actually gotten it to run at that velocity "Gearing The standard mathematical formula for quarter-mile times would have the SVX (3800 lbs, 230 hp) arriving at the end of the 1/4 in about 14.9 seconds. Unfortunately, in reality the SVX is closer to 16.0 seconds. The reality is that the car has too high a gear ratio. For the ideal quarter, the car should be at peak horsepower (or slightly above) in top gear at top quarter speed. To run a 14.9, the SVX would have to be geared to hit only 91 mph at 6700RPM. With no torque converter slippage, this would require a 5.0 final gear and only 1-3 gears (not overdrive). The stock gearing for the SVX would enable it to hit 195 MPH at 6700RPM in 4th gear. Obviously, the gear ratio is far from optimal. I would suggest replacing the stock 3.54 gear set with the Legacy Outback ('97, '98) 4.44 gear ratio. You need both the front differential and the rear. The perfect time to do this is when you're replacing your transmission. This will provide 26% greater torque (to the pavement) in every gear, and will have a pronounced effect on vehicle acceleration. This should improve times to the low 15s."

Well, here's the lowdown. I've worked really hard on my SVX and put a lot of time and effort into it. Its a 95 LSI, black with black. It has 17" Falken wheels, and I forget the tires, but they're sticky. Anyway, I port and polished the whole engine, balanced everything, got the computer chip, and did a ton of N/A work on it. Yep. Its naturally aspirated. Makes a tad UNDER 400hp. No turbo, and 196mph. To help cope with the power, I put in a high performance clutch, carbon fiber driveshaft, light weight flywheel, and a 5spd manual transmission with quasi-adjustable gearing. I retained the 4wd system but gutted the interior and replaced as many body panels as I could with carbon fiber to get the weight down to about 3100 lbs (dry). I also installed a cold air intake, true dual exhaust (with bigger piping) and upgraded the fuel system. Anyway, last night I got it up to 196mph! I am NOT KIDDING!
