I also did that at the track... Its not worth it to a stock car because it is not a restriction

I know a clutch sacrifices bits and pieces of itself to friction everytime you shift and is mechanically coupled to the engine, whereas a torque convertor uses hydraulic fluids to transfer power.. will the 5-speed give him an advantage over my 4EAT

yes and no... automatics do exactly that... it automates the shifting process so it is as efficient as possible... a 5speed has less weight and also sacrifices less power yet it takes a very competant driver to be able to shift and launch well

Depends very much on the available gear ratios and the skill involved. I think results will make for an interesting discussion.

Personally i love the 3000GT, it's a very sleak and sexy car. However, i would NEVER own one that wasn't a VR4, it's a sports car, but the N/A just looks fast, the VR4 actually IS fast. If your buying a regular sedan for daily driving, etc, and there's a 2.0litre or a 2.4litre engine avaialble to you, picking the 2.0litre isn't going to give people just cause to make fun of you. However, if you buy a car that is specifically a sports car, looks really really fast, and you get the crappy engine, what's the point? No one bought the SVX because it was a "fast" car, or a race car, they bought it because it was unique, had cool features, reliability, etc. Then they started discovering ways to beef up the power a bit. Sure the super-charged 6speed is fast, but it would take a small fortune for it to even try to compete with the VR4. If i wanted to go rediculiously fast, i wouldn't drive an svx. I'm comfortable iwth going moderately fast in a comfortable and sporty car.
