Fuel Gauge

Greetings,

My fuel gauge in my 96 LSi is very erratic. Once I fill it up, it does read correctly, but after a few miles and starting and stopping, it goes below E or somewhere in between. The yellow warning light does not come on when it goes below E and I'm using the odometer as my indicator. I'm guessing
it might be the sending unit. I've never changed the fuel pump or float. Runs great. Maybe it's an electrical issue. Any ideas?
Also, looking for a complete original antenna. I know a brand new one is around $180.
Thanx

This will help you fix the fuel gauge problem, no need to replace, or not likely anyway. Antenna is going to be harder to find new, but you can try www.car-part.com, just put in the year make and model and part and it will list all the wrecking yards that show as having one.

Hmm I just checked and there is a pretty good listing of them actually, including one for $40 located in IA.

Re: Fuel Gauge

Hi 92 SVX,

Perhaps I missed your response concerning what's effecting my fuel gauge.
Do you have a solution?

Thanks for the tip on the link for the antenna! Is the antenna the same for 92-97?

Re: Fuel Gauge

Thank you. I've repaired/replaced many fuel pumps and sensors on other cars,
including Subies (1994 SS 5spd, NEVER SHOULD OF SOLD THAT ONE!!!), but not on an SVX. So, it has 2 sending units. I always get real nervous doing that kinda work with the potential to "ignite" a bomb. This car is definitely very well engineered. Like most, if not all of you, it creates much interest and buzz where ever I go, like "what is that?"
I'm very happy to have found this forum and other SVX enthusiasts. We are indeed a unique group, just like the car!
