What should I take from a parts car?
Hello,
My mom has an SVX parts car. It's a '92, and she's had it for about nine years. She would like to get rid of it, though, so she's going to have somebody strip the car for parts. My mom has therefore asked me to provide her a list of parts I want out of it. So I'm asking for your help. What parts are getting difficult or expensive to find? The car was in some sort of pretty bad accident, and I believe the fenders and hood, as well as much of the glass and one side, are damaged badly. But mechanically the car is in good shape. The engine bay was not severely compromised. Better yet, this car is in FL and has been there its whole life. No rust! Since it has been stored indoors, everything that wasn't damaged in the accident is in very nice shape. I want to be clear: I am not offering the parts on this car to you for sale. I'm asking for your help in identifying the parts I should save from it. There may come a time when my mom gets tired of having a pile of SVX parts around, and I'll put them up for sale. But, for now at least, I'm being selfish with this stash. The transmission on it is only a few thousand miles old, but it needs to go in my mom's other '92, which is gorgeous. I'll probably help her try to sell that car this year some time. It only has about 60k miles on it and looks, I'm not kidding, brand new. Anyway, if you could take whatever you wanted from a parts car, what would it be? I need to come up with a comprehensive list of stuff to keep off this thing before it gets hauled off for scrap.

If in good condition, Id say the windshield, and all of the glass as well. Engine harnesses, complete interior, ecu, tcu, sunroof if there is one. Id take as most as possible. Good luck

I'd definitely keep suspension parts, the power antenna assembly, the factory stereo, switches, knobs, buttons, fasteners and trim, that sort of thing.

Re: What should I take from a parts car?
Any good glass or body panels, headlights, taillights, visors if they don't droop, hood and trunk shocks, window motors, seats if good, door sills if tabs still there, keyless entry remotes. That's what comes to mind off the top of my head. As hard as it can be to get parts for these, I'd strip it down to the frame if it was me and keep everything that isn't damaged or worn out

Re: What should I take from a parts car?
All the computers. All the plastic dash pieces. The climate control for sure. The Coil packs. The ABS parts. The calipers, the alternator, the accessory covers. The exhaust, the drive shaft, the window motors. The fuel pump. The front license plate bracket. The headlights, tail lights. Wiper motors.
