manual shift rear mount question

Finally getting around to installing a manual transmission. Bought about everything I need from a guy who decided not to move forward. Read all the posts I could find on the forum and laid everything out today to see if it made sense.
I'm still a little unsure on wiring but think I can work that out when I get there.
However, the rear shift mount has me puzzled. I see why it is needed and where it goes but I think I'm missing something. Right now I have the shifter, rubber boot and shift linkage. I see where the rear mount needs to go but I just have the shift rod. Is there a part that fits on the shift rod that is held by a fabricated bracket or does the fabricated bracket need to hold the shift rod as well as bolt to the car?
I've seen several pictures on the forum of how others have done this, but have spent over hour today and can't find them.
Thanks

Re: manual shift rear mount question

I finally went to local dealer and had them printout parts diagram for WRX shifter and saw what I needed was that bracket. I ordered a new one.
Thanks for the reply.
I think I'm ready to start this project. Really looking forward to having a manual.

Re: manual shift rear mount question

Awesome!!
I'll dig up whatever documentation I can find from when I did mine. I remember taking pictures and writing up instructions, particularly for the electrical stuff.

Re: manual shift rear mount question

That would be great. I've spent hours searching the forum reading and printing things on manual installs. I think I understand most of it but I'm sure I will run into some issues. The first time for any project is a learning experience and this one has a lot of things to do.
I did convert to 4:44 a few years back so the transmission removal and install so I have some experience on that stuff and have spent a lot of time working on cars over the years.
The wiring is still not too clear but I think once I get there and have the wires in hand it will make more sense.
In looking at my pedals I see there are two switches on the clutch pedal, one at the top of travel and one at the bottom. I assume the bottom one is for the neutral safety switch, but the one at the top has me puzzled. What would need to know that the clutch is at the top of its travel? Any help here would be good but I may need to make another trip to dealer to see what they know.
Thanks again.

Re: manual shift rear mount question

Yes bottom clutch switch for NSS. I didn't use the upper switch for anything. I imagine it is there to disengage cruise control just like the brake switch does. The following thread contains a few of my pictures for connecting clutch switch and reverse switch on trans to operate back-up lights:
