Need new engine for my '96
I am toying with the idea of just doing an engine swap to get my car back on the road as fast as i can.
Throw me some offers, I need an idea of whats out there. I am looking more for lower millage engines, or engines which have just recently been overhauled and are running nicely.

Re: Need new engine for my '96
might be able to get a JDM one for a good price i'm assuming. I have an engine but not sure how long some of the seals will last.

Re: Need new engine for my '96
Is there any difference in the Wiring Harness for ODBI and ODB2?
And if I can get a JDM engine, assuming its low miles, would I need to change anything?

Re: Need new engine for my '96
Whatever you get, I'd recommend doing the head gaskets and a full reseal (cam, crank, rear main, VC gaskets, gromments), timing belt, and waterpump. Also, reseal the oil pump and separator cover. A full engine gasket kit is like $250~ and is worth it while the engine is out. If you can stand to be without the car and are using your other, I'd suggest just pulling the engine and doing the reseal.

I want to find a decent engine that can be used to drive around 25 miles a day on, so I can take my current engine out, and take my time with it to get everything done that needs to be done (headgasket, rear main seal, etc) Lucky before I got the car Timing Belt and Waterpump were replaced, so I don't need to worry about those.

Re: Need new engine for my '96
When you can only have an engine for <60k miles, would you treat it well? I would beat the crap out of it, personally.

Re: Need new engine for my '96
Yep, those 40k miles or so that are on those motors also don't see highways much. They are often in worse shape than 150k mile US motors.
