SVX wins award at Concours D'LeMon in Monterey
"Hagerty’s coveted Kitschiest Car Award was won by Scott King and Sandy Edelstein with their strikingly ugly, but very original 1996 Subaru SVX AWD."
https://www.yahoo.com/autos/concours...960121692.html I looked for a pic but was only able to find one of the owner accepting the award through the sunroof. It does show enough of the car to confirm that it is an SVX. Would be nice to see how "original" it was. Pic is second from the bottom in the linked article. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...WTF-Award.html |

Split Cockpit Windows. I see an SVX.

Re: SVX wins award at Concours D'LeMon in Monterey
I'm vacillating between joy and sorrow. On the one hand, a clean SVX is a beautiful thing to look at, and it breaks my heart a little to think of one being a prizewinner at LeMons. On the other hand it is right up there near the top of the oddity scale, and I very much like that about the car too. Oddity is important in the judging. Not to mention the bribes.

Wow, so sad. Funny how the SVX is viewed as a joke in some circles.

I would have to say that the SVX is the good, not the bad or the ugly.

Re: SVX wins award at Concours D'LeMon in Monterey
I don't really care what people think about the car. Some love it, some hate it. You bring a car to LeMons though you can expect it to be called ugly or to be laughed in a friendly way. Anyhow I'm sure the guy holding up the trophy was having fun.
Judging solely by the look of the paint on the roof I am optimistically guessing it was in fair to good shape.
