engine truoble
i just got a new tranny in my car and when it back i was having idaling proble it would jump form 400 rpm to almost 800 rpm. and when i give it gas it is really slow to acc. until it hit 3000rmp and then it take off like normal. and when i turn the a/c is on the problem is worse. i have change the oil, filter and the plug and the check engine light never come on.
does this sound like a ecu problem. or could it have any thing to do with my two front bad cats? |

Idle speed issue
If cleaning the throttle body helped it some than you may have an IAC (Idle air control) valve problem. Is the problem changed at all by engine coolant temperature?

no i just had a new radiator put in the car when i had the new tranny put in.
now when i turn i the a/c the car stays at it normal idel at like700rpm. when you turn on the a/c the car is going to boosed the idel to help the a/c right . so the idel should go up alittle like i does on my 01 legacy |

that's definitely a spark plug problem, or their wiring, 100% sure !!!!

I'll go for the Idle air control valve under the throttle body, also.
Harvey.

it's rather spark plugs wiring, or spark plug themselves, or you have like we say over here a tired engine valve. what are you shocked? a tired engine valve can make this problemin your car. it did in my friend's toyota supra, he changed it and the rpm went back to its norm. first check out the sparks wiring and spark plugs. if the provlem persists, you should take out the whole engine out and change the valve.

yes your right NGK.2 YOU SILVERSPREAR i just check them again and the all seem to be fine .really dont think it is a vavle. before i had the tranny work on the car ran like a champion. the a/c was ice cold.
when i get it back i turn on the a/c and it stay at normal idle..... now im i right or my right that and car with it a/c on will bump the idle up to like 1000rpm not the stock 600 to 700 rpm. to me i think i has to do something with the computer |

The computer is probably the single most reliable part on the car. (True for most cars, excepting GM, Mits and some Chryslers.)
Since it didn't have the problem prior to the tranny work it would make sense to check around everything that was changed/disturbed during that process. I'm betting the engine was tilted back far enough for a long enough time that the accumulated oil and crud in the intake oozed its way back into the idle air controller (below the throttle body) and gunked it up. Also clean the t-body as a cruddy throttle plate(s) will drive the computer wiggy between the constantly changing TPS closed throttle reading and the corresponding A/F and MAP changes. A learning computer can only make so many changes over a certain period of time. Since it learns by seeing an unexpected reading from one sensor not in line in reference to other sensors, what happens when more than one sensor goes belly-up at the same time? Which sensor is providing the correct information? This could also result in the computer recalculating the TPS input and causing other driveability concerns- idle, throttle response/lag, shifting, etc. My humble advice? Pull the dang t-body and IAC off and clean them properly. Don't adjust any throttle screws or you will end up 'adjusted' (not a good thing.) Replace or at least clean the PCV valve and check the condition of all of the breather and vacuum hoses. Don't forget to check the hose under the intake, behind the p/s pump, for the IRIS reservoir. It catches a lot of heat, is small and breaks on its own accord.
