SVX Meet 2010?
Anybody interested in an SVX meet this Summer? Not looking for definite commitment, just an expression of interest and some ideas.
The JAE is on the weekend of 11th September at Wicksteed park, Northamptonshire. There are some other presumably similar shows: JapShow 4th July SantaPod, JapFest 15th May Castle Combe or 15th Aug Rockingham. There's the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 3rd-4th July. Awesome but pricey. The Midlands Breakfast club looks interesting to me. 20th June at the RAF museum in Cosford http://www.midlandsbreakfastclub.co.uk "Cars in the park", up north somewhere, 9th May, http://www.carsinthepark.org.uk/ Or we could do something else, or nothing at all. Any interest? Any ideas?

Re: SVX Meet 2010?
I would put my hand up for the Cosford meet. Although it's nearby, it is also fairly central for all.
Anyway, surely I'm entitled to some benefit living in the Midlands, there aren't many you know. PS Anyone got a decent radiator, or know a source to buy one at sensible cost? PPS Thank God I haven't had a drink else an lpg SVX in red at that tempting price would virtually guarantee me waking up one morning with my wedding tackle on the bedside cabinet.....Assuming I actually woke up, that is. PPPS Joe, I read elsewhere that road tax in Ireland is about £650 a year for an SVX engine sized car - is this right? Happy Easter everyone! |

No, I don't know where you got that figure but it's not even close. We would have been paying that sort of a figure back in the 70's. £650 would not even tax the SVX for six months! The yearly rate is €1566, about £1410 of your money. Six months is €869, approx £782 at current rates. Three months is €442, around £399. You can see how easy they make it for us over here to keep down the mileage on our classic cars. Joe

Re: SVX Meet 2010?
Hi all
I would be interested in tagging along if it's the right place and timing - as long as you don't mind a Legacy in your midst?! Would be good to catch up with you guys again. Tony |

Re: SVX Meet 2010?
Cosford looks interesting to me too. I'd love to see the planes, I almost joined the RAF, way back. June won't suit me for a number of reasons, two weddings and a Bike trip happening round that time. I note they have a September date though.

Re: SVX Meet 2010?
Thats a pity Arthur, I popped by to see Gez in Hayling the other day but he has had to get a job so have not been able to contact him. I plan to call him this weekend to see if he would be interested in coming to this.
We still must try to meet up some time, I was going to sell the SVX a while back as I bought a new van but have worked out a way to keep it now. Just checked the route planner and its about a 3 hour drive from where I live so I'll be interested in the meet Last edited by DJW svx; 08-07-2010 at 01:58 AM. |

Re: SVX Meet 2010?
I drive past Gez's house most days, the SVX was on the drive a couple of weeks ago.
Happy to meet at The Ship on Langsone bridge one day one day if you want. Did you see the 97 sillver svx that sold on ebay for £1200 ! If I had room to store it I would have bought it ! |

Re: SVX Meet 2010?
Thank you all for a great day up at Cosford. It was so good to put faces to the names, everyone was so friendly and Joe's knowledge about the cars was very welcome, I was certainly made to feel very welcome. We certainly did provoke some interest with the crowd. It was good to give the old girl and good long trip. 400 miles round trip on one tankfull. The low level light has not come on, haven't worked out the MPG yet but it's looking good, didn't miss a beat all day. Thanks to all.

Re: SVX Meet 2010?
I got back to Ireland at lunch time today. I can echo Wyn's remarks, I had a really good time.
It was great to meet everybody, both new members and old friends. SteveK who could not be there on Sunday looked after me so well, a big thanks to him. The show itself was a good event, lots of smashing cars, and if anything was too short to get a decent chat with people. Maybe next time we do something similar we should add a drive-out on the Saturday afternoon? That way some of us could meet up and chin-wag Saturday evening. Also people would have the option of staying over and enjoying the social side, or else only coming for the Sunday morning. Hopefully we can do another as good the next time. Thank you all. Joe
