Chrome 97 grill in JDM market?

Hello

I just read a post in the parts for sale section (sorry posted this same request there too) about the JDM market or other markets having the 97 front grills available in chrome verses the standard matching body color. Is this fact and if so does anyone have a picture of a SVX with one. I am curious to see what it does to the look of the car. I am not looking for modified cars and chrome mesh etc I want to see the OEM stuff and preferably on the car.

This is a picture of a '95 JDM with the chrome grill.

It belongs to one of our members "Hairy" in NZ, and it is a very sweet car. The chrome grille suits the burgundy. I've also seen them on polo green, looks nice, and it looks good on bright silver cars.

I'm not as convinced it works on ebony cars, but to each his own.

Laguna Blue cars are rare in Japan. They were never supplied with the chrome grille, they had the waterfall grille as standard.

Laguna Blue as a colour was only available as an option in Japan for S3 cars. S3 cars sold from Nov '94 to July '95, and the market did not like them because they were "poverty spec" cars. Subaru quickly recognised that the S3 version was damaging their reputation, and rapidly introduced the S4 in '95.

The S4 cars had everything, and sold from July '95 till the model came off the market in '97. Only three colours were available;

Light Silver
Burgundy
Polo Green.

Hairy's car is a late '95 Burgundy.

To answer your question though, I think to retro-fit one of these chrome grilles on a Laguna, the effect would be excellent. It would look at least as good as a Polo Green, and probably look better. IMO.

I never new there was a chrome grill regardless of markets involved.

So I guess I will just have my entire car chromed to match the grill.

I would still like to see some more pictures of the SVX with the chrome grills. Thanks for posting the one above. I think its nice. I am not sure if I prefer it then my black grill, I guess I'd have to see one in person which will prob never happen. I not usually one to or actually ever one to modify anything on any of my cars, not even the slightest thing like a chrome grill vs a painted one so I will prob never do it anyway. I more just wanted to see if it would modernize a tiny bit the look of the SVX from the 90s to the 2000s. Nots sure what I think but it is nice.

I had one on my 95 years ago. I only had it on for about a week. Hated it.

perhaps it was the black vinyl on the headlights that made you hate it. you were young back then. crazy kids.

Love the grille - hate the blacked out headlights

Seriously, I do like the chrome grille. So much I have one on mine. Of course I also replaced the body color grille on my WRX to a chrome one from an Outback Sport. I guess I just like chrome grilles

Ohhh. Me likey. Did you just paint the stock (pre 97) grille? Still not sure about the eyelids, but that grille looks even better than the other options. And I already have one.

I covered it with a vinyl decal. Same with the headlights.
