Alarm
Arrrrrrrgh So, I have put a new battery in the vexing SVX after sitting in disgust for 4 months, and the alarm won't F stop!! As soon as I connect the terminal, off it goes. I looked up the alarm info on here, turn it on and off 20 times, no go. 30 times, no go. The remote does make the blinkers click, but the doors don't unlock, and the alarm will not stop. Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE help me out here! I am ready to drive this thing off a cliff..... |

Re: Alarm
Australian-delivered SVXs did not come with a factory alarm system.
Assuming that your SVX is Australian-delivered, you must have an aftermarket system installed. In that case, you should attempt to determine what make and model of alarm is installed (examine the remote control closely or find the alarm siren unit in the engine bay) and see if you can find a user guide and / or installation guide for that particular alarm. Some aftermarket alarms also have a key switch that overrides the siren. If this is the case, you will normally find such a switch on the alarm siren unit which is normally mounted somewhere in the engine bay. Good luck! Jason.

Re: Alarm
Thank you, O master of knowledge!
But... It is a Rhino, GTS by what I can work out. It does NOT do what the install or user manuals say. It has a key hole, I have no key. Tomorrow, if my 20 year old is around, the damn thing will be disconnected! I want to cut the blue wire... It is always blue in the movies! It has a kill switch, so who needs an alarm! |

Re: Alarm
Countess,
I always pull the alarms out of the cars when I buy them. Some times they are wired in throught the cam sensor so when the alarm plays up the car won't start. One SVX I brought second hand for my wife had 2 alarms in its life. I had trouble every now and then with the car not starting and a crank sensor error code. Ripped the first alarm out and still the problem existed, repalce the crank sensor as well still the problem existed. Found they had cut the wire to the crank sensor and had a plug in it when they changed alarms they stuck a paper clip inn the plug. Problem papaer clip moves and engine stops. Cut the bloody alarm out happy to guide your 20 year old throught it if needed. And its not the blue wire. Tony

Re: Alarm
Hehehe thanks for your advice!!
He disconnected it while the car was running, andit is all good. It has an immobiliser that I had installed anyways, alarm has always been redundant! The blue wire is the antenna apparently. Booooooooring! |
