Since water pump failed and the radiator cracked, I assume that it overheated. Was there significant other engine damage?

Why would hte water pump dying cause the timing belt to break?

Well if the pump locked up the in turn it would heat up the belt because of friction hence the belt breaking...

This exact circumstance is how I purchased a 94 LSi for a low price (same exact thing happened). If only the car was closer to me, I could try for it.

Overheat

The owner did not give a clear answer as to any possible engine damage due to overheating. I would suspect that it did damage the engine. If it ran long enough with a seized water pump to break the timing belt and to crack the radiator--I smell, as a mininum, engine head damage.

Lee,

Although there is a strong possibility that you could be correct in the assumption of engine damage, there is also a possibility that the engine got away unscathed, as the water pump was completely seized in the 94 Pearl I had and the timing belt was burned up, but with idlers, a belt, and wp, the car ran great after we did some work to it.

Did yours also have a cracked radiator which at least indicates a great amount of heat got into the engine?

I bought a 92 that had overheated and cracked the radiator--the engine was toast--anyway one side of it. Of course, I only paid $500 for it.
