Thanks
I wanted to say thanks to all those that checked out my SVX at the meet. A special thanks to Tom for taking it for a ride and to John and Mike for giving it a thorough checkout. I waxed the car on Monday and installed the new radiator foam. I still need to put the heat shrink tubing on the alternator wire and condition the leather.
I felt a lot better after talking to you guys. It was nice to hear that the car was in such good condition. Like others have mentioned, I seemed to get nearly 30 MPG on the long highway drive down to Reading. And, yesterday, I checked out the running temperature and was surprised to see how low it was. It was running about the same temperature (195-197F) as it was in the winter and the outside temperature was about 50F higher (90s versus 40s) and I was running A/C versus the heater while driving the same speed on the same stretch of highway. And it seemed like the standstill temperature, after climbing a small hill, was actually lower?!?! (199F versus 204F) I doubt the new foam is responsible but maybe it is helping. Not bad for a car that supposedly has a blown head gasket.
