Please help with tranny swap parts
I have spent hours searching and maybe I'm just dumb but I cannot come up with anything as to what parts are needed for the swap. There's someone on here selling everything I need from the donor car (2002 legacy) however I do not know what extra parts are needed. If someone who has done a swap or someone who knows a great deal about these would be willing to help me out by providing a parts list, I would greatly appreciate it.

Clutch and brake pedal assembly (with switches and pigtails). Clutch master & slave cylinders and line. The rear differential (to swap gears out of) Starter Trans wiring harness for nuetural switch, reverse lights, and Speed sensor. Rear transmission mount and crossmember. Flywheel, pressure plate and clutch disc. Shifter linkages, shift boot, and shift knob. Don't forget the shift rod mount behind the linkage in the driveshaft tunnel. Some people say get the driveshaft, I prefer to use the SVX driveshaft. Its up to you. If I missed anything, please someone add to it. Doug

You didn't mention if this is a 4EAT or 5MT. The last 2 posts are regarding the 5MT.

This is for the 5mt. Are there any parts needed that are not coming from the donor car?

driveshaft will need to be from certain years of the outback or a custom one made from an SVX. other than that, all of the parts will come from the donor car, just remember the flywheel bolts

Great. What about the X-member. Do I need one from an SVX or the legacy it's coming from? Also, what year driveshafts will work or how much does the factory one have to be cut/ added to? Another thing, is it possible to just use the Legacy rear diff. and axles instead of just replacing the gears inside. seems like that may be a little easier.

If you're putting another Auto box in it, you'll use the SVX crossmember, if you're putting a manual in it, you have to fab up a working crossmember fromt a combination of the Legacy and the SVX ones....

It's nice to have all Cross member mounting components. Having the front member allows you to visualize what you are missing and what needs to be done to support the trans. Check out my locker picture to see how I used the front cross member from a WRX. Whatever direction you plan on going you will either have to do some welding yourself or have a shop do some fabrication and welding for you.)
