1997 Lsi - I just don't have the time or interest any more....

Asking 3k. 168k miles. Decent shape. More info; photos soon. Check my profile for the initial pic.

State SVX is in: Good

Year: 1997

Model: Lsi

Color: Polo Green

Miles: 165,XXX

Location: Long Pond, PA

Options: CD player, Aid cond....standard LSi options

AWD or FWD: AWD

Modifications: Low-restriction precats (do not cause any issues with 02 sensors)

Major service: Replaced worn driveshaft with 1992 LSi driveshaft

Maintenance Records: Excellent records from previous owner...I did the work on it myself since owning (oil changes, etc.)

Transmission condition: Transmission itself is in excellent condition (was rebuilt by dealer when owned by previous owner at approx 90k miles), does not slip, fluid is clear - there is an issue with the tranny CABLE, I believe.

Engine Condition : Excellent

Glass condition: Excellent

Type of tire and remaining tread: Falkens - they need replacing.

Interior condition: Good - one scratch in the rear - er - side panel and one scratch in the console from transporting a TV.

Body condition: Baseball-sized dent in rear bumper, small dent/minor crease in hood, almost un-noticeable dent on driver's side (the light has to hit it just right), paint is chipped/flecked on the nose from typical highway pebbles, etc.

Known defects or problems:

- Tires
- Left rear rotor/pad (for whatever reason, the brake pad I had on it hung up and chewed up the rotor. The other 3 rotors are slotted/drilled with less than 15k miles, and the pads have less than 5k.)
- There's something loose in the right rear (half shaft?) - it's not awful, but you can hear it rattling from time to time.
- Something is odd with the tranny cable. I had it replaced with a new one when I BOUGHT the cara in Sarasota...it's not quite adjusted right. The tranny fluid is CLEAR...I've never had a problem with it.
- Gasket between Cat. converter and exhaust - apparently, there WAS no gasket there- someone decided that black silicone would hold that...and it did, until about 2 months ago.

Comments about the car: This car has been an absolute blast, but we have a second kid en route, and I'm going to be starting my own business. "Practical" and "SVX" do not often collide in the same sentence.

Asking price: $2,750 - $3,000

Pictures: Please see my locker.

A few questions

Hello. Wondering if you have a recent CARFAX ? And, how's the engine? Engine Condition seems to be a missing field in the standard template. Thank you.

Engine does not smoke, only trouble it ever gave me was when I put some bad gas in it about 6-8 months ago; stumbled, light came on...but it cleared up almost immediately.

Busy as all heck right now...apologies for the delays in response.

(And no...no recent Carfax.)

Unspeakably aggravated.

Sorry I disappeared.

I went to start this over the winter, and the battery wasn't up to snuff. So then I went to jump it...pulled the hood cable, and the hood cable snapped. So the hood wouldn't open. So I got aggravated and left it there for the remainder of the winter. Naturally, the clear coat started to peel on the hood during that time.

So yesterday...my neighbor and I got the grill out (without damaging anything, amazingly...). We got the hood up, re-routed the cable through the grill as a temp. fix - and got it fired up. It ran like a champ after a couple minutes (it sat for several months, remember), and then I moved it approximately three times to fill up the tires, etc....and then the transmission cable snapped.

I'm not even kidding about any of this. At least I know what was up with the tranny.

I'm debating on putting a For Sale sign on this for $1,500 or just throwing a cover over it and hoping it appreciates in value.

Re: 1997 Lsi - I just don't have the time or interest any more....

Hi!

So, pretend, just for a moment, that I sold this car to a coworker on June 13, 2009.

By "sold"...I mean said "come and get this and pay me when you can." Pretend that I said he could have it for a grand.

Now imagine that this happened...and that said co-worker has not paid me one single dime since then, but has fixed the tranny cable. Also imagine that I still have the title.

Also imagine that I may be starting my own home business, and that our financial situation has improved considerably.

At 2 years...I may just say "Hey...dude. I'll make it easy on you. Here's $100 to tow the thing back to my house, and for fixing the cable."

This car may be indelibly linked to me.

At this point, what are you looking to get for it?

(I could still be interested)

Dude...at this point, I'm just looking to get it back into my driveway. I may actually have TIME for this thing now. (six speed, engine management, camshaft, exhaust, etc.)

I apologize for not being more responsive to your earlier requests. I'll post as it goes along.
