O/T: GM Cavalier Concept Cars STOLEN
2 of the GM concept cavaliers that were being used to test some prototype equipment were stolen from a hotel parking lot. I've seen them up close, and they're pretty darn spectacular for cavaliers. The details are at this link:
http://www.j-body.org/index.php?id=85 Attached is a pic I took of one of the stolen vehicles at a Drag event a couple months back. |

boo-freakin-hoo.
The real question is why would you want to steal a GM vehicle? Blech. - Ca$h |

Chances are the cars are in a chop shop by now. Those guys are quick if the demand is there.

While I have to admit that I can relate to ca$h's sentiment, I think the bigger question in my mind is:
Who would steal a one-of-a-kind car like that? What could you do with it? You certainly can't sell it. You can't part it out. If you just wanted to chop and scatter it, there are millions of Cavaliers out there... ...it's just bizarre. I like the messages underneath. 'They could be...anti-GM lunatics on a mission to put the J-body down...' The author admits that his statement is highly speculative. I think that's the understatement of the day.

Don't mess with GM...
Im going to have to agree with Mike on this one...although i don't totally understand his fascination with the Cavalier, it is by far the best choice in it's class and price range. In fact, your only other choices are the Ford F*ckus (Dubbed by R&T magazine as the most horribly designed car on the planet), the Dodge Neon (a.k.a. "Head Gasket Killah"), and the plethora of korean offerings that i can't even begin to name. All the overseas offerings are at least $2000 more similiarly equipped and aren't really all that much better. In any event, those two cars that were stolen look damn nice, and that really sucks...but then again, it's not really a surprise. I hope they can get them back.

I like my Jbody (Sunfire).
Sunfire's are far more stylish than Cav's any day anyways. Crazy chevy guys.

LOL no thanks. It's actually getting paid off this month, I'm thinking of giving it my gf. I can't think of giving her my SVX.

Sunfires are fine too, when i talk about one branch of GM, I tend to lump all of them together. By talking about the cavalier, i really ment the J-body as a whole. But i personally like the styling of the cavalier over the sunfire. Seeing as they are the same car mechanically, what i said goes for both the Cavi and Sunfire.

HA. Nice try. Neons are not "head gasket Killas". The 1995, 1996, and HALF of 1997 Neons truly WERE headgasket 'killas' (mine included, it blew at 24,000 miles), but after that they revised the head gasket design and replaced it with a MLS (multi layered steel) headgasket that has had NO PROBLEMS.
And no, Cavaliers are not the best choice. Why? Well, I really thought my neon's interior was a piece of crap- that is... until I rode in a J-body. With cloth that looks like disposable baby diapers, horrible seats, an obnoxious outdated engine, and butt ugly styling with piss poor performance?! BLECH. Neon. All the way. They're cheapest, they're ULTRA reliable, they freaking OWN in autocross (great suspension), they are faster than cavaliers, sunfires, focii, saturns, and even faster than almost ALL the import competition (The Civic SI will dust a neon from 60-100, but a neon will anally rape the civic to 60mph). Hell, the fact that neons dominated the 'factory showroom stock class' should say something. - Ca$h |

OK, Why not, this is spiraling way off topic so I'll throw in my $.02
If I wanted a econobox sports car I'd go back in time and get another OMNI GLH. That was the Granddaddy of all the little performance cars. 255 HP Turbo II motor, 13.9 1/4 off the showroom floor and a price tag of under $9K brand new. If you wanted Looks as well, go with the heavier two door Charger GLH-S and "settle" for the 14.1 1/4 mile. Road and Track near the end of the 80's listed the 87 GLH-S and the 87 Grand National as the two "most likely to be collectors cars some day" back in the late 80's 80's child and proud of it. Doug
