Engine Code 24
While driving to work today my check engine light came on, and when I checked the code (its a 92 SVX) it was a 24, which I understand is the bypass air control solenoid valve. Can someone tell me where this is and is it something I can replace/fix? is this the same thing as the idle air control valve on the bottom of the throttle body? If so, I removed and cleaned it a couple of months ago, but didnt get the error code until today.
Thanks. |

Re: Engine Code 24
As in so many cases, you need to think of how the ECU can report the issue. Is a '92 model ECU sophisticated enough to expect an RPM increase and issue a code when it doesn't occur? More than likely not, so the next point would be that the ECU is observing a circuitry problem, in other words it expects to 'see' a specific voltage range and it isn't. My point is, before throwing a new part on be sure to investigate the surrounding wiring, connector, etc. - it might save you a few bucks. And, in the advent that it is that sophisticated, investigate the connecting hoses, etc. for holes, collapsing, internally pluggged, etc.

Re: Engine Code 24
This just happened to me today...got the code now and cleaned the valve a week ago. The resistance was fine when I removed the valve.
