Two out of ten ain't bad.
Two Subarus made the Consumer Reports "Top Picks for 2005" list: The Forester and WRX. Given the number of competitors out there, that's impressive. Both have scored well with CR for years.

Indeed. Subaru is tiny compared to....well just about every car company you can think of. I'm always amazed (but not surprised) that huge companies like Ford and Chevy don't make better vehicles. With all the manufacturing facilities they have and the billions of dollars at their disposal you'd think that they could make some real GREAT cars. Dave |

They don't make great cars because they don't have to. They only make them "good enough" to pass then make them as cheap as possible.

That would explain some of the horrible crash test results I've read about from the NIIHS. Dave |

With all the positive ink from Consumer Reports and skyrocketing fuel costs (premium blew from $2.199 past $2.30 in less than a week here), I think Subaru could really make hay in the coming months by (getting back to) emphasizing quality and relative economy. A buddy of mine who currently drives an Xterra is taking his wife Suby shopping this weekend, for these very reasons. dcb |
