According to those numbers the rims will fit but the rubber is more than 1" taller than stock. You would need a 225x40 or 235x35 series to match.

Should be able to get some hubrings to make them fit right.

"Centerbore The centerbore of a wheel is the size of the machined hole on the back of the wheel that centers the wheel properly on the hub of the car. This hole is machined to exactly match the hub so the wheels are precisely positioned, minimizing the chance of a vibration. With a hubcentric wheel, the lug hardware will not be supporting the weight of the vehicle, all they really do is press the wheel against the hub of the car. Some wheels use high quality, forged centering rings that lock into place in the back of the wheel. This is an acceptable alternative. If you have non-hubcentric (lugcentric) wheels, they should be torqued correctly while the vehicle is still off of the ground so they center properly. The weight of the vehicle can push the wheel off-center slightly while you're tightening them down if left on the ground." As you can see, a forged ring will fulfill the weightbearing issue, where the delrin rings mentioned, and lightweight aluminum ones I've seen will not. However, if the vibration and proper fit vs vibration are your real concern there you are. I have no suggestions however on where to obtain them. Glenn

So a bolt pattern will not determine if the wheel is hubcentric? how do we determine if it is? How unique is the svx in this aspect? will the tireshops do the proper fittings?
I saw rubber rings online...... are these needed? So much questions iknow, but thanks again. there is so much new to me to this car. |

If Mazda hasn't changed the hub diameter (the "hub" is the large through hole about which the wheel lugs are located) from what the 3rd Gen RX-7 rims measured out at you're in business, as the 3rd Gen RX-7 rims hub diameter is within a mm of the SVX hub diameter. If you do a search of this site on "RX-7 rims" you should be able to find out exactly what the SVX and RX-7 hub diameters are.
Hope this helps. -Bill

Looking on line it appears Subaru has 56.1mm hub size. I could be wrong here, but all current Subie wheels will use the same size.
I found this: http://www.prestigewheel.com/Catalog/HubRings66_67.pdf as well as Mackin Industries that lists Glass filled polycarb rings, telling reader to call them for needs at 562-946-6820. Also: http://www.justforwheels.com/index.jsp Looks like lots of info out there. Glenn If Bill's correct there won't be a ring out there that would work. If they're that close in size why bother?

Sorry To ressurect...
If the rubber on the tires mentioned 225/45/18 is mounted on the car, will these rub? or they just will not fit?

The tires probably won't rub but your speedo will be approx 4.5% off.

If they are 18", then he needs 235/35/18 tyres to fit. If he goes with something more than 35 (height) the SVX will look like a big foot

Then minus the 10% that the car under-reads anyway, you're only 5.5% less than indicated!
