A/C Climate Controll... where to start

Ok, so my A/C doesn't work..... fan blows fine, it just doesn't get cold....

At this point I haven't even started to look for the problem as I've been more concerned about the brakes and the rest of my life....

So, I'm wondering if there is a typical component that is known for going out that would be a 'first thing to check' on this particular vehicle. You know, one of those things like the alternator on a same year monte carlo or lumina..... every single one ends up replaced......

you could be out of freon.
could be a leak somewhere in the system.
the condensor could be leaking...
or the o rings in the pipes.


as for the alternator... you might want to have a spare one.
i've kept a spare and was a good thing. a rebuilt alternator i had only lasted a month on me ~
