ATF boiling point?
Just out of morbid curiousity, anyone know what temp my tranny fluid will boil at?

Hey Ali, I think normal AT fluid boils at 310, and synthetic at 350, but not sure. it will actually burn before it boils, all you have to do is smell it, you will recognize the burnt smell.
don't tell me you suspect an issue ![]()

No issue, my fluid doesn't burn anymore, and now the leak into the dif is fixed. Yeah, I've smelled the burnt ATF constantly for a few months (you saw the smoke) and I remember when tranny #2 died and it went from looking like grenadine to looking like cooked bbq sauce - yum.
I was just thinking of boiling a particular aamco employee in a vat of ATF and I wanted to know how much I needed to heat it. ![]() |
